Total alkalinity is an important component of water, particularly in relation to our health. It is a measure of the amount of hydrogen ions plus minerals such as the carbonate and bi-carbonate ions of calcium, magnesium, potassium, manganese and sodium. These minerals create a strong buffering, or stabilizing effect for the pH of the water. The higher the alkalinity the more stable the pH. Water with high pH and alkalinity supports the body`s digestion process in the absorption of nutrients, minerals and essential trace elements.
